Tal Yinon Dardik (picture above with his child) is on hunger strike in protest against a puzzling administrative order imposed on him by Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth. In the hearing held yesterday on his case, the judge harshly attacked the order, which harms the rights of civilians.
This month Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth issued a controversial administrative house arrest order, mandating six months at his deaf, widowed mother-in-law’s home. Dardik’s representatives from Honenu argued the order was impractical and unlawful as she communicates only via lip-reading, had not consented, and could not supervise him.
After he refused to comply, Dardik was arrested shortly after his fourth child’s birth and indicted for breaching the order.
He launched a hunger strike in protest.
Dardik remains in custody at Jerusalem’s Russian Compound amid protests.
