Lt. Col. Niso Guetta (picture above), Commander of the Judea and Samaria District in the Border Police, announced the addition of a new battalion in the Gush Etzion area, another in the Hebron Hills, and the beginning of a process to establish one in the Jordan Valley. A Border Police company is already slated for the Jordan Valley by November.
In just two months, the Gush Etzion battalion has carried out 60 evacuations — accompanied by shocking violence against youths, desecration of tefillin, threats of live fire, and harassment of families.
Activist Elisha Yered condemned the invitation of Guetta — the man overseeing these destructive operations — as an honored guest at the Farm Association Conference. “This is not only jarring and shameful,” he warned, “but they are actively preparing the ground for widespread outpost evacuations under the next government.”
We cannot ignore this dangerous shortsightedness. Leaders must remember recent history and immediately halt these destructive actions before it’s too late.
