Palestinian Army Trains Near Settlements While Israel Targets Outposts
Just a few kilometers west of Israel’s central cities in Judea and Samaria stands a Palestinian force whose capabilities rival several IDF divisions. Equipped with standard and advanced weapons, it trains extensively in Jordan and other Arab countries, gathers intelligence on Jewish communities and IDF bases, and rehearses the conquest of settlements.
Meanwhile, the Israeli government concentrates on demolishing two hilltops in Binyamin near Givat Asaf (operations that continued into the morning of September 2) and on the warrantless confiscation of a pickup truck at Givat Mevaser Shalom near Tapuach Junction, during which two protesting residents were violently arrested.
These steps followed a cabinet decision by the “full right-wing government” authorizing harsh measures—including vehicle seizures and fines—against settlement points in Areas A and B and on private Arab land. The Israeli government took no comparable action against the Palestinian Authority, which continues to receive its support.
