Last Friday, the Israeli hiking group “Hargavim” finished their weekly trek from Sa-Nur to Mevo Dotan in northern Samaria. Afterward, they accepted a lift from an Arab taxi driver on the old Route 60.
*The group posted a video of the ride on their Facebook page. It quickly went viral in Arab media, triggering hundreds of hostile comments, many calling for the driver’s murder for helping Jewish settlers.*
In response, *the driver’s family from the village of Jilbon—linked to Fatah—issued a statement claiming he had been forced at gunpoint to transport the hikers.* They denied any ties to Jews, voiced support for the Palestinian struggle against the occupation, and warned against spreading unverified rumors.
*The episode starkly illustrates the deep tensions and antisemitism in the region.*
*HM: We don’t encourage hitchhiking with strangers!*
