For more than a year, a terrorist cell from al-Mughayyir has been poisoning flocks across Binyamin’s grazing lands. Deadly bait has been hidden in pita, dates, cisterns, and water troughs, with at least ten attacks killing and sickening sheep, goats, cows, and dogs. Witnesses have watched suspects leave the village at night and flee back to known houses. A few were briefly arrested, then quickly released.
Last week the campaign escalated when a Kalashnikov round struck an empty farm vehicle, missing the driver’s seat by centimeters. Local soldiers and police respond quickly but lack the intelligence tools to arrest the perpetrators. Shin Bet and the Judea and Samaria investigative unit have so far stayed out of the case.
Elisha Yered warns: This is not low-level crime but serial terror that could next target drinking water. The flocks have paid the price so far. The cell remains free.
