Soldier Jailed 20 Days for Protesting IDF Administrative Orders
A soldier received a 20-day military prison sentence at the Nitzanim base after protesting outside Central Command headquarters in Jerusalem against Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth. He was demonstrating against the use of administrative orders in general, and specifically in the case of Tal Yinon Dardik.
Honenu attorney Daniel Shimshilashvili, who is representing the soldier, described the protest as lawful. The soldier’s family praised him for speaking out, accusing the army of returning to a failed mindset and of persecuting residents of Judea and Samaria.
The protest centers on Dardik, who was remanded after violating a house-arrest order issued by Bluth, who imposed the order without a hearing and without giving Dardik the opportunity to challenge any evidence against him. Such house-arrest orders disrupt family life and make it difficult to earn a living. Dardik has vowed to continue fighting these measures, framing the issue as far broader than his own case.
