BREAKING: Court Orders Unconditional Release of Tal Yinon Dardik (above, center) After 38-Day Hunger Strike
Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court Judge Amir Shaked has ordered the immediate unconditional release of settler Tal Yinon Dardik, accepting a petition by the Honenu organization.
Dardik had been held under an administrative detention order issued by Central Command General Avi Bluth and conducted a 38-day hunger strike in protest.
Honenu lawyers Moshe Polsky, Nati Rom, and Daniel Shimshilashvili represented him.
Attorney Rom said the court accepted their arguments from the outset: The order was issued without proper authority, was unenforceable, and therefore provided no legal basis for the arrest.
Polsky added that the order “was not worth the paper it was written on” and that the state had unnecessarily prolonged the case at taxpayers’ expense. Honenu described the administrative orders used against settlers as “a black flag” over the Central Command general and his superiors. The group called for the immediate cancellation of all such orders, arguing they are applied solely against residents of Judea and Samaria and not against other Israeli citizens.
