Jewish Resident Arrested by PA Police in Area C Near Gush Talmonim
After midnight, a Jewish resident of Gush Talmonim driving along Tzir HaMa’ozim—a key route connecting Beit Horon to the bloc—was stopped, detained, and arrested by Palestinian Authority police, who also seized his weapon. The man, a reservist, remains in custody and is being transferred to the IDF. The checkpoint was set up in Area C territory under full Israeli control per the Oslo Accords, where PA forces are prohibited from operating.
This is not the first such attempt in the area, but the first reported case in which officers completed an arrest and sought to confiscate a weapon. Investigative journalist Elchanan Groner described the incident as a kidnapping and called for a strong Israeli response, questioning the silence of senior officials including Netanyahu, Katz, Smotrich, and Ben Gvir.
