Honenu files formal complaint alleging excessive police force on settlers.

The Honenu organization has filed a formal complaint with Maha”sh, (מח”ש = מחלקה לחקירות שוטרים) Israel’s Police Internal Investigations Department, against Magav (Border Police) fighters over alleged excessive force during an eviction on Givat Tel Talpiot on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

According to attorney Eladi Wiesel, officers struck a minor on the head with a rifle barrel, threw him from a vehicle, fired gas grenades directly at protesters, kicked one in the groin, and used pepper spray.

Video evidence was submitted. The video above depicts only nine seconds of the severe violence by Border Police officers during the evacuation of the settlement point, and is unlikely to be the complete submission.

A credit card taken from evacuated equipment was later used at a supermarket in a nearby Palestinian Authority village, prompting accusations of theft and breach of trust.

The complaint also cites a similar June incident on the same hill in which a settler was seriously injured. Honenu demands that Maha”sh open a criminal investigation under caution, question the officers and commanders involved, review body-camera footage, operational reports, and use-of-force authorizations, and locate those responsible for the stolen card.

Wiesel described the actions as “criminal thuggery,” not legitimate crowd-control measures.
