Stick, Punches, and Kicks: Jewish Teen Attacked During Olive-Harvest Provocation

A serious incident occurred yesterday around noon: Anarchists participating in an olive-harvest provocation attacked a Jewish teen with a stick, punches, and kicks and stole his mobile phone near Michtam LeDavid farm.

Looking the activists in the eye, both foreign and domestic

Around 9:30 a.m., roughly ten vehicles carrying activists from the organization “Looking the Occupation in the Eye,” along with foreign activists and foreign media, arrived at the entrance to the village of Burin in Samaria to stage an olive-harvest provocation. The army removed the group from the site, but the activists continued to a second location near Michtam LeDavid farm — a farm that secures the entire Alon Road near the village of Duma.

How did the teenager become involved?

Former MK Eyal Ben-Reuven was among those present. According to residents, the anarchists, together with local Arabs, opened a security barrier during the event. At one point, an Arab woman took advantage of a moment when an older resident from the farm was at a distance and no cameras from the Jewish side were filming. She initiated a provocation in front of about 20 cameras, clung to the teen from the farm, and began pushing him. The teen moved her hand away to stop her. Extreme-left activists immediately claimed that the teen had attacked her.

A number of anarchists then pounced on him. According to the complaint, about three of them attacked him with kicks, punches, and a stick blow to the face, and also stole his phone. Residents say the phone was found a few minutes later inside an olive-harvest tarp that the activists had rolled up in an attempt to hide it. The teen sustained facial bruises and is in mild condition.

A police force that arrived at the scene arrested two anarchists. Police stated that the incident is under investigation. Left-wing activists reported in the media that one of the detainees is former Civil Aviation Authority director Yoel Feldschuh. For the sake of fairness, I note that it is not clear from the testimonies I have received that he took part in the attack; therefore, it is appropriate to await the results of the police investigation before drawing any conclusions about him.

It should be noted that olive-harvest provocations in Judea and Samaria are expected to intensify ahead of the elections, with extreme-left organizations organizing delegations from Israel and abroad for these events.
