Major Relief for Binyamin Residents: Wallerstein Road (bright purple-ish line on above map) Set to Reopen
After nearly 26 years, Wallerstein Road (Route 463) will reopen to Israeli traffic. Closed during the Second Intifada, the east-west route that links Nili Junction to Route 466 near Al-Bireh has forced residents of the Talmonim bloc and Beit El area into detours lasting nearly an hour instead of just 13 minutes.
Binyamin Regional Council head Yisrael Gantz confirmed that the IDF has begun redeploying forces and relocating bases. The move is already budgeted and expected within months. Once open, the road will dramatically cut travel times across the region, restore vital connectivity between eastern and western Binyamin, and ease daily life for thousands of residents who currently rely on congested alternative routes through Givat Ze’ev or Jerusalem.
Binyamin, the largest regional council in Israel, governs a massive geographical area containing over 40 distinct settlements and communities in Samaria.
