Jihad by Sapling: Jordanian University Cells Funding Land Seizure in Area C

Hamas student cells in Jordanian universities, known as the “Jerusalem Committees” (Lajnat Al-Quds), are driving tree-donation campaigns that advance agricultural land seizures in Judea and Samaria. Working with the Jordan-based Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), they fund plantings framed as “green resistance” and explicitly tied to jihad. A fatwa from the Jerusalem mufti declares agriculture on contested land a form of jihad.
Trees have been planted in strategic spots such as Gush Etzion, often marked with the cells’ logos and sometimes dedicated to terrorists. The groups glorify Hamas attacks and leadership while exploiting Civil Administration rules that protect cultivated land from state declaration. Despite clear Hamas affiliation, these cells remain unrestricted.
